For the past few years I have documented my journey making watches through Instagram in a very casual way, showcasing the making of parts as they progressed and my comings and goings. This is still a great way to follow along (@the_schon) but I think I will be coming to this blog page every so often to showcase new work, talk about some achievements, share pieces for immediate sale, and what shows and events to find me at next. 

So to kick it off. 

Where Have I Been This Year?

I made a trip to Japan to deliver two watches in April and visit some of my pen retailers (for Schon DSGN). I love Japan, so this was awesome. A bonus was being able to sneak away to Naoshima Island for a few days. We also landed some press for the launch in Japan, which felt really cool. 

I decided to do less tradeshows this year, but made it out to the DC international pen show a few months ago. Mostly representing my pen company Schon DSGN, but I always bring a watch or two even if they are just my personal pieces.

Last week I attended the AWCI Convention in Austin Texas and delivered the keynote speech, a huge honor. The AWCI or American Watchmakers - Clockmakers Institute is an incredible organization with a great attitude. Ill talk about this in the next post since I need to gather my thoughts. I was fortunate enough to be featured the August 2018 Edition of the magazine to build some interest in my work before the talk. 

Where am I Going?

In just two short weeks I am headed to NYC for the "Windup" Watch Show hosted by Worn and Wound

I am finishing up preparing for this show now. There will be some interesting stuff there... some new things. Ill leave it at that! 

What Else is New? 

My alma mater Boston University just release this piece on my work. It's a nice video, with some shots of the workshop and lots of me talking about my ideology and what I'm making. It's shot by some amazing Boston University students.
